Club Policies

• Minor Round Matches

Where practical, players will be rotated evenly on court throughout the minor round, taking into account factors such as availability, training attendance, sportsmanship, fitness, attitude and injury. 

Players that do not regularly attend training may not be considered for court time if sufficient players are available. 

• Major Round Matches

Coaches will endeavour to play all players for a minimum of 1 quarter, taking into account factors such as availability during the season, training attendance, sportsmanship, fitness, attitude and injury.

The combination of players that would result in the best chance for success will be played at the coach’s discretion. Un-financial players are not eligible to participate in major round games.

Parents and Spectators will report situations of concern in a timely fashion to:

Burnside City Netball Club endeavours to respect the privacy of its members by treating all personal information as confidential.

Relevant contact and medical information will be shared with coaches and managers to facilitate the running of the team on the understanding that this information will be used for no other purpose and not be retained post season.

Photographs and images of players will not be used by the club without players or parents express permission.

• Play by the rules.
• Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain approach the official during a break or after the competition.
• Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.
• Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
• Be a good sport, applaud all good plays whether they be by your team or the opposition.
• Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player.
• Co-operate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
• Play for the fun of it and not just to please parents and coaches.
• Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and umpires. Without them there would be no team and you could not participate.
• Ensure that you are attired in the correct uniform with adequate footwear.

• Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
• Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
• Focus on the child's and the team’s efforts and performance rather than winning and losing.
• Encourage children to always participate according to the rules.
• Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
• Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good plays by all teams.
• Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
• Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise.
• Offer assistance at training and matches, but do not interfere with the coach's direction of the team. Wait until after training/match to speak with your child.
• Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators.
